Carl Frampton is a former professional boxer from the Tigers Bay area in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

He won his first world championship (IBF) at super-bantamweight in 2014 in an outdoor arena at the Titanic Quarter in Belfast. He added the WBA title in 2016 after defeating Scott Quigg in front of a sell-out crowd in Manchester.

In 2016, he fought the undefeated Mexican Leo Santa Cruz for the WBA (super) featherweight title in New York City. In victory he became Northern Irelands first two-weight world champion. As a result, “The Jackal” was named “The Ring Magazine” Fighter of the Year in 2016 becoming the first Irishman to win the award.

Carl retired from boxing in 2021 after an unsuccessful but valiant bid to become the first Irishman to win world titles at three different weight divisions and has since built a successful career as a TV boxing analyst. His impact on Northern Ireland out of the ring has been admirable and enduring.
